Calorie Balance

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 July 2026

Calorie Balance ("the app", "we") is a calorie tracker for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes. The short version: the app has no accounts and no backend server of ours — your data stays on your device, and the only information that ever leaves it goes to the third parties described below to make specific features work.

Data stored on your device

The following is stored locally on your iPhone and is never uploaded to us:

This data is removed when you delete the app.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, the app reads your active energy from Apple Health to adjust your daily calorie budget. This data is read on your device only, is used solely to calculate your budget, and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. The app does not write any data back to Apple Health. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app.

Barcode lookups

When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to retrieve the product's name and nutrition facts. Only the barcode number is sent — no personal data. Open Food Facts' handling of that request is governed by their privacy policy.

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which handles purchase validation and entitlements. To do this, RevenueCat processes a purchase and an anonymous app-generated identifier. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details — those are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

What we do not do

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
